Honeybee Larvae Could Be Infected

There’s been a problem with honeybee colonies for years now, and a deadly parasite that might infect the larvae may be one reason. It’s called Nosema ceranae, and while adult bees have shown to suffer from the infection, it wasn’t previously thought that it could also attack the larvae. There haven’t been any studies done to investigate this new theory, but scientists will now start running tests to see if it could be at least one possibility as to why so many bee colonies have collapsed.

Healthy people at The Aspire New Brunswick have found that other factors that have been thought to cause the huge loss of bees are pesticides, mites, or even something else. All of this is just speculation, though, because nothing definitive has yet been found, and the experts are baffled.

The world food supply is directly affected by the size of the honeybee population. Nearly a third of the food we eat is available because of pollination, and bees are a crucial component. They’re needed to pollinate such crops as tomatoes, melons, cucumbers, etc. Without bees, a vital part of the earth’s ecosystem would be lost.
